BUCHI is focused on multimodality and we have active research interests in the following areas:

  • Interaction Design
  • Assistive Technology
  • Human Factors

Our current projects include:

  • Gesture based CAPTCHA – we are working on developing a mobile friendly CAPTCHA scheme that uses gesture control as the main interaction method. Please check our latest demo at: http://dec.bournemouth.ac.uk/~comp/captcha/login.php (mobile access only)
  • SmartPowerchair: this research will investigate which pervasive computing technologies can be integrated into a standard powered wheelchair (powerchair) to increase the quality of life for people with disabilities. Paul’s objective is to develop a SmartPowerchair that integrates the technologies that are found to be most suitable for the user domain. Paul’s contribution to knowledge will be a SmartPowerchair Framework that will be used for future technology insertions into assistive technologies.
